![]() I think you still have to download those, but we can dig up the link if you want to try those. There are also the Ultralinear presets for Ampex if you want a cleaner sound. This is a personal thing, some will have 10 plugins on the mix bus at all times and some just 1 or 2. I will also usually put a Pultec in between these two just to get it's transformer goodness going and add a touch of highs and lows with it, like Andrew Scheps does. There is debate on where to put it, but I always have it on from the start and usually have it first on the mix bus, following by the Comp. There are a lot of very heavy presets on that you don't want. On the Ampex, honestly, even the default preset is quite good. I find it's the most no-fuss preset on that one for mix bus. ![]() That's literally all he uses and just dials in the threshold. On the API, try the Vance Powell Mix Bus preset first. But aim for -1dB or so in Gain Reduction with all of them. ![]() ![]() On the SSL, I tend to dial that in rather than use presets, since the Threshold and timing are not always going to work on presets with your specific track. With regard to the ATR, do any of you have suggestions on to put it before or after the bus on the stereo mix? Any advise on settings or presets to use ?
